Meet Paul Fortin

Diversified Experience

Paul has over 25 years of diversified experience in manufacturing, retail and distribution arenas. With an MBA from University of Southern New Hampshire and a Business Management degree with concentration in Accounting from the University of Maine, Paul is an expert in accounting operations, financial reporting and controls, and budgeting and forecasting. He has a proven ability to develop cross-functional teams and execute within a fast-paced changing business environment.

Prior to his coming to Next Level, he was a finance director of an international footwear and clothing company: an award winning, global wholesale and retail leader in the design, engineering, and marketing of premium quality footwear, apparel, and accessories with sales in excess of $1 billion.

Paul has extensive experience in business process reengineering, strategic planning, financial modeling, operational control development, team development and contract negotiations.

Communications Skills

Perhaps Paul’s best asset is his easy manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills. He has the ability to work inside client organizations as though he has been there forever. His empathetic manner allows him to get all sides working towards the same goals.

His track record includes:

  • Creating and analyzing financial pro-formas for potential new licensee deals with a focus on maximizing return and minimizing risk.
  • Supporting the accounting and financial operations of 50 cost centers including Licensing, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technologies, Legal and Facilities. Responsible for a $100 million budget.
  • Directing the accounting and financial responsibilities for the Payroll, Accounts Payable, Corporate Purchasing and Accounts Receivable departments representing a staff of 30 employees.
  • Sponsoring a corporate wide Finance and Human Resource project to explore alternatives to existing software. Directly involved in all aspects of the project including vendor selection, due diligence, ROI analysis, and recommendation of Oracle software to Senior Management.
  • Implementing Quickbooks throughout a diversified group of business organizations ranging in size from $50,000 to $30 million in sales.
  • Successfully training of client’s staff on financial and accounting processes resulting in improved accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
